Our Mission

In Your Backyard is an educational CD for children of all ages, which promotes the understanding and appreciation of our natural world through music. The project joins the talents of Jeff Wolin, an outdoor educator, and Mark Galbo, a lifelong musician and music teacher. Wanting to create a product that was both musically exciting as well as educationally sound, Jeff and Mark carefully crafted an album designed to encourage an understanding of our planet through each of us exploring our own backyards.

Musically, the album is a joyous romp through the terrain of American popular music reflecting Mark’s experience producing music in genres ranging from blues to campfire sing-a-longs; from reggae to rockabilly. Combined with Jeff’s enthusiastic and engaging style of communicating scientific information, the album offers the listener a unique opportunity to learn about the world around them as they dance and sing to a collection of rocking, memorable tunes.

Rooted firmly in current education trends; place-based education and brain-based learning, while remaining irresistibly musical and fun, In Your Backyard is an ideal tool for awakening curiosity about our natural surroundings.
